IN AND THROUGH THE BODY

Somatic Therapy

Trauma, stress, and emotional pain don’t just live in the mind—they live in the body. Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach that helps you process and release stored tension, reconnect with your nervous system, and cultivate a deeper sense of safety and presence. By integrating movement, breathwork, and other embodied practices, this therapy supports healing on a physiological level, allowing you to move beyond intellectual understanding into lasting transformation.

At Prism, we work with individuals who feel disconnected from their bodies, struggle with anxiety or trauma, or seek a more holistic way to process emotions. Whether you’re healing from past experiences, navigating life’s transitions, or simply wanting to feel more at home in yourself, somatic therapy provides a path to deeper self-awareness, regulation, and resilience.

What’s Involved?

Somatic therapy blends traditional psychotherapy with body-based techniques, helping clients regulate their nervous system, release stored trauma, and cultivate a greater sense of embodiment. Through mindful movement, breathwork, and guided awareness, this approach fosters healing beyond words, supporting emotional resilience and overall well-being.

Expected Outcomes

Clients often experience a greater sense of ease, emotional clarity, and connection to their body. Over time, somatic therapy can help release chronic tension, improve nervous system regulation, and build a deep, sustainable sense of inner safety.

Ready to reconnect with your body and experience healing from the inside out? If you live in Maryland, Colorado or Oregon you can book a session to explore how somatic therapy can support your journey toward greater ease, resilience, and emotional well-being. Your body holds the wisdom—let’s listen.

Get answers to common questions about our holistic therapy services, including what to expect, if psychedelic therapy is for you, and how to select a therapist. At Prism Wellness, we’re committed to helping you feel informed and confident every step of the way.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply curious about your own growth—therapy can be a powerful place to begin. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit.

At Prism Wellness, we see therapy as sacred space: a space to slow down, listen inward, and begin tending to the parts of you that long to be seen, healed, and reclaimed. Whether you're navigating trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, spiritual shifts, or a desire to live more authentically, therapy offers a grounded container for deep transformation. We’d be honored to walk alongside you.

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first session is all about creating a foundation of trust and safety. We’ll begin by getting to know you—what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and any parts of your story that feel important to share. You don’t need to have it all figured out—just come as you are.

We’ll also go over your intake paperwork, talk through the therapy process, and answer any questions you have about our approach. There’s no pressure to dive in too deep right away—this is a space where we move at your pace.

Our hope is that you leave the first session feeling grounded, supported, and more connected to the journey ahead.

Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?

Yes, we offer both.

At Prism Wellness, we provide in-person sessions at our Baltimore and Frederick offices—warm, intentional spaces designed to support nervous system regulation and deep healing.

We also offer virtual therapy for clients throughout Maryland, as well as in Colorado and Oregon, giving you the flexibility to connect from the comfort of your own space.

Whether you choose to meet in person or online, we bring the same grounded presence, somatic orientation, and sacred attention to each session.

Let us know what feels most supportive for you.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Prism Wellness is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and United Healthcare plans.

If you’re covered under one of these, we’re able to bill your insurance directly.

For all other insurance providers, we are considered out-of-network. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, we can provide a superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

If you’re not sure what your plan covers, we recommend reaching out to your insurance provider or letting us know—we’re happy to help you navigate it.

How do I choose the right therapist for me?

Finding the right therapist is an important part of your healing journey—and we’re here to support that process with care and intention.

When you reach out to Prism Wellness, we’ll gather some information about what you're seeking, your preferences, and any specific areas of focus. From there, we thoughtfully match you with a therapist on our team who feels most aligned.

We also offer free 15-minute consultations so you can connect with a potential therapist, ask questions, and get a feel for the connection before moving forward.

We believe that healing happens in relationship, and the right fit matters. Our goal is to help you land with someone who feels safe, attuned, and resonant with your path.

What makes your practice different?

Prism Wellness offers a holistic, somatic, and soul-centered approach to therapy. We don’t just focus on symptom relief—we support deep, embodied transformation.

Our practice weaves together trauma-informed psychotherapy, somatic healing, and psychedelic integration to help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom, your ancestral roots, and your most authentic self.

We honor the complexity of your experience—your nervous system, your relationships, your lineage, your spiritual life—and hold space for healing that is both clinical and mystical, grounded and expansive.

At Prism, we’re not here to fix you. We’re here to walk beside you as you remember your wholeness.

Is Psychedelic Therapy legal?

Psychedelic therapy is an evolving field—and legality depends on the substance and the setting.

Currently, most psychedelics (like psilocybin, MDMA, and ayahuasca) remain federally illegal in the U.S., although there are growing efforts to expand access through clinical trials, decriminalization efforts, and state-specific programs (such as in Oregon and Colorado).

However, there are legal avenues for psychedelic-assisted therapy. At Prism Wellness, we offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)—a legal and regulated option for those seeking deep healing through altered states of consciousness. Ketamine can be safely used in a therapeutic setting under medical supervision and has shown powerful results for depression, trauma, and existential distress.

It’s also important to note that psychedelic integration therapy is completely legal. Integration work does not involve the use of substances in session, but instead supports individuals in processing, making meaning of, and embodying insights from past or future psychedelic experiences—whether they occurred in a legal setting, ceremony, or on your own.

We are here to walk alongside you with respect, integrity, and care—honoring your path while staying grounded in legal, ethical, and trauma-informed practice.

Can I get a Superbill?

Please note that we are not in network with all insurance plans. If you have insurance that we are not in network with,, I/we can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please let us know if you need further information on this process.

Can I get a Good Faith Estimate?

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” you have a right to receive a “good faith estimate” explaining how much your therapy services will cost. Healthcare providers are required to provide clients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance for therapy services with an estimate of the cost of those services. The total cost for each client will vary depending upon the length of time and frequency of sessions that occur throughout the therapeutic relationship as determined by the initial assessment and continued evaluation of treatment needs and progress. Your estimate will be valid for the twelve (12) months from the date of issue. Should any fee changes occur, or upon your request, I/the practice will provide you with a new Good Faith estimate.
