Kendra Lyris Speicher-Eisenstark

LGPC

Kendra's work is depth-oriented, grounded in the belief that our early learning and life patterns shape how we move through the world, but understanding where we came from is only part of the path toward healing and growth. Real change asks more of us than insight alone. Drawing on Gestalt therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Buddhist psychology, somatic work, parts work, and arts-based practice, Kendra helps clients bridge the gap between knowing and changing. She holds the deep conviction that therapy is political, that our individual healing is connected to the systems of the world around us.

Kendra believes in getting comfortable with the uncomfortable, and in the growth that comes from moving toward the things we tend to avoid. She frequently works with clients navigating grief, trauma, sexuality, and addiction (including both behavioral and substance addictions). This work can be hard, and it requires a great deal of trust. Kendra is neurodivergent-affirming, kink-affirming, sex-work-affirming, and non-monogamy-affirming in her practice. In session, she focuses first on building a therapeutic relationship that can support that depth work. We will laugh at least as much as we cry.

Kendra is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Maryland. She holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Thanatology (Grief, Death, and Dying) from Hood College, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at James Madison University.
